I invested money into additional training in order to perfect my craft. I eventually built a clientele and opened my own salon. Hair and Nails Examiner: Can you give a hint on what NeNe’s hair will look like for the big wedding day? Pat Sumpter-Davis: Very old Hollywood glam and Great Gatsby inspired. Hair and Nails Examiner: I recently did an interview with Dr. Oz who discussed an upcoming episode that simulates a giant hair weave to show how bad extensions are on the hair and scalp. He feels more women are going towards a healthy, natural hair trend, especially in lieu of the study that stated African American women forgo exercise in order to maintain the weave and/or the weekly hairstyle. What are your thoughts? Pat Sumpter-Davis: I don’t necessarily agree with Dr. Oz, based on my professional experience in the beauty industry and owner of a Hair Extension Company. I think there are misconceptions when it comes to hair extensions. I feel that anything you do to your hair can cause some type of damage if not cared for properly. Some women are braiding all of their hair and wearing hair extensions because its actually more convenient to workout.
The concert organizers said Gomez, who sang Come And Get It and supports gay rights, pulled out of the planned performances in St. Petersburg and Moscow next week when it became clear she would not be able to secure a visa in time. They blamed the delay on the new rules, which they said were prompted by official concern over two concerts in Russia at which Madonna and Lady Gaga defended gay rights, and a gig in neighboring Ukraine where the lead singer of U.S. group Bloodhound Gang stuffed a Russian flag down his trousers. The situation is a result of the scandals over the Madonna, Lady Gaga and Bloodhound Gang concerts, after which the Russian authorities changed procedures for issuing visas to foreign musical and artistic groups, said the promoters, the Russian Entertainment Academy. (AP) — Vince Sicari can tell all the lawyer jokes he wants — he just can’t play a judge in real life. The New Jersey municipal judge, who is also an established stand-up comedian and actor, resigned Thursday after the state Supreme Court ruled he can’t moonlight as an entertainer. Sicari told The Associated Press he tendered his resignation after the high court released a unanimous opinion that said his acting and comedy career is “incompatible” with judicial conduct codes and essentially gave him the choice of doing one or the other. “I’m not surprised by the result, but I’m very disappointed,” Sicari said. “I take great pride in being a judge and to give that up is disappointing.” The 44-year-old lawyer, whose stage name is Vince August, has carved out a career as a comic and actor, appearing on network television, in New York City comedy clubs and as a warm-up for Comedy Central audiences. He was also a part-time municipal judge in South Hackensack, where he handled things like traffic ticket cases and disorderly persons offenses. Several justices had questioned whether the public could separate Sicari’s position as a judge from roles he has played on the ABC hidden camera show “What Would You Do?” in which he has portrayed homophobic and racist characters. That dilemma played a central role in Thursday’s ruling, as the justices noted that someone tuning into the show might not know that actors were used in the sketches. They applied the same standard for Sicari’s stand-up performances.
